KG Charles-Harris
Mr. Charles-Harris is a former technology investment banker and entrepreneur, and has worked internationally with companies like NOKA Securities (Scandinavia) and NESTA Advisors & Capital, a boutique biotechnology M&A firm he initiated with offices in San Francisco and Scandinavia. He co-founded and financed EMANIO in Norway in 1994, and has been functioning as Chairman since the inception. He became CEO in 2000 and has been responsible for the development and implementation of the company’s strategy. In 1996 he co-founded Hurd, a Scandinavian corporate venture fund focused on new technologies for the Fred Olsen family group (owners of Timex, First Olsen Tankers, etc.). He is also co-founder of GenoMar, a genomics company focused on aquaculture and food safety.
Mr. Charles-Harris founded OMOD (Organization Against Public Discrimination) in Scandinavia and remains its Chairman. The non-profit organization has grown to become the primary partner for the Scandinavian governments in dealing with issues of integration of their immigrant population. He is a member of the board of several privately held companies. Mr. Charles-Harris was educated in Scandinavia and the UK and has done post-graduate research on corporate strategy and organizational psychology.
Development Manager
Prentice Parr Jr
Mr. Parr began his career working with youth as a County of Los Angeles Lifeguard where he coached the diving team and provided swim lessons to children between the ages of 6 months and 18. While at UC Berkeley, he became actively involved in Bay Area organizations such as Stiles Hall, The School and University Partnership Program, and the Making Waves Educational Program, which all seek to eliminate educational disparities amongst minority communities. Within the M3 Foundation he has worked in various capacities ranging from a tutor, to site manager, to program manager, and most recently as development manager. Currently, Mr. Parr is acting as the M3 Development Manager and has worked with the M3 Foundation since its inception.
Mr. Parr obtained his B.A. in Public Health from the University of California, Berkeley as well as a certificate in Post Baccalaureate Science and Healthcare Studies from the University of California, San Francisco.
Program Manager
Milan Drake
Milan Drake has over 10 years of experience as an educational
consultant/coach, mentor, classroom facilitator and business owner. He is
responsible for coordination of all program activities for M3, including
student outreach/recruitment, curriculum/instruction development, and
parent training.
Mathematics Instruction
Dwayne Byndloss
Mr. Byndloss graduated from Castlemont High School in East Oakland. He earned undergraduate degrees in Mechanical Engineering and African Studies at San Francisco State University and a Masters degree in Counseling at Cal State Hayward. Dwayne has worked with inner city youth and their families since 1990. He worked for the Real Alternatives Project (RAP), a non-profit community based youth development agency, for 12 years in
Berkeley and Oakland as a counselor. As a counselor Dwayne provided individual counseling, group counseling, family counseling, academic support and advocacy to a 30 student caseload of African American boys.
Dwayne has also taught Pre-Algebra and Algebra to middle school students since 1990 in after-school, summer and Saturday academies such as the Mathematics Engineering Science Achievement (MESA) Program, Responsibility Integrity Strength and Empowerment (RISE) Project, the Higher Learning Project and the Panther Pace program.
Lastly, Dwayne has also done extensive work with African American parents. He facilitated several parent institutes with empowering themes such as understanding and effectively dealing with adolescence, motivating your child, parent organizing and changing unhealthy behavior/attitudes. In the Spring of 05 Dwayne's Gear Up Black Parent Institute at Longfellow Middle School in Berkeley, California, was recognized as the best in the State.
Sports & Athletics Instruction
Skyler Barton
Mr. Barton currently holds the title of Athletic Director at Martin Luther King Junior Middle School. Currently completing his second year in this position, Barton has managed to coordinate the entire athletic program, organizing over twenty competitive and intramural teams in the ’05-’06 school year, while coaching more than six different sports along the way. These sports include baseball, basketball, football, soccer, softball, and volleyball. Barton’s coaching experience not only consists of his two years in the middle school athletic program, but also extends to city leagues.
Always having a passion for both teaching and athletics, Skyler commenced his coaching career over six years ago. In the summer of 1999, he began working for the City of Berkeley Parks and Recreation Department as a Youth Sports Coach and Official. In the summer 2001, he began working with the City of Berkeley Summer Baseball Clinic. Since his coaching career started, he has coached over twenty youth sports teams and led five baseball clinics. In addition, he has coached numerous adult teams and has served as an official for several leagues.
